Understanding lock grades
Many locks carry an ANSI/BHMA grade. Grade 1 is built for heavy commercial use, Grade 2 suits busy residential and light commercial doors, and Grade 3 is basic residential hardware. We will explain the grade of what we recommend and why.
Apartments and rentals
Landlords and property managers often change or rekey locks between tenants. We can do this and supply keys for the new tenant and the owner. See also rekeying.
Frequently asked questions
Can you repair rather than replace?
Often, yes. Cleaning, adjusting the strike or replacing a worn part can solve many problems. We will tell you when replacement is the better value.
Do you supply the locks?
Yes. Our vans carry common residential and commercial locks, or we can install hardware you have bought.
