What is a deadbolt?
A deadbolt is a lock whose bolt is moved only by a key or thumb-turn, not by a spring. Because the bolt does not retract when pushed, it resists forced entry far better than a knob lock alone.
Single or double cylinder?
A single-cylinder deadbolt has a key outside and a thumb-turn inside, which is the usual choice for homes. A double-cylinder deadbolt needs a key on both sides; it can help next to glass panels but can slow an exit in an emergency, so check local fire and building rules before choosing one.
The strike plate matters
Most forced entries break the door frame rather than the lock. We fit a heavy-duty strike plate with long screws that reach the wall framing, so the bolt is anchored properly.
Frequently asked questions
Can you add a deadbolt to a door that has none?
Yes. We drill the door and frame and install the deadbolt and strike.
Should my deadbolt match my other keys?
We can key it alike with your existing locks so one key opens both.
