Locked Out of the Office: A Practical Plan
An office lockout costs time and can delay customers and staff. Having a plan, and the right paperwork, makes it much easier to solve.
Check who else has access
Call a manager, the building owner or property management. Many buildings have a master key or a security contact.
Have proof ready
A locksmith will ask for ID and proof that you are authorized to enter, such as a business card, lease or a call from the owner. This protects your business from someone else getting in.
Avoid forcing the door
Commercial doors and exit hardware are expensive to replace. A locksmith can usually open them without damage.
Stop it happening again
Keep a key log, store a spare securely, or consider keyless entry locks. See our commercial services.
